Question:
I was trying to get ahead of the game and finish my task, but I ran
into some problems. I chose to edit Heart of Darkness by Joseph
Conrad. However, the book is divided into three parts labeled as I,II,
and III which becomes a problem when trying to complete the part of
the assignment dealing with headers and the table of contents. I have
no section 4 and beyond for the headers and no heading 3 for the table
of contents. I have basically everything done except for these
subtasks and would rather not start over. What should I do?
Response:
I created the instructions trying to cover all possibilities, but there are always exceptions. Since the goal is to show that you can use the tools, all I need to see is that you can. I think, from your note, that you are using the PPT as a guide to the task. The PPT is an example that is not quite the same as your task. For example, in cell B17 on the specs sheet, it says
Format the name of each section that precedes the chapters of the document and the title of each chapter in Heading 2 style (these will be used later for the real table of contents). If you have any text sections that follow the chapters, format them in the same Heading 2 style. You will have multiple sections and chapter titles to format appropriately. You can productively use your CNTL+F tool here. If your work also has chapter numbers, format each chapter number in Heading 1 style. |
But do follow the guidance on the spec sheet for your task. Look at the PPT for pointers how things might be done, but don't follow it as guidance.
